SYNOPSIS

Entirely fictional and extremely extraordinary, sometimes very masculine, other times quite feminine, yet basically asexual, Herold, who is a character hard to define, has the gift of making people, even those it has met for the first time, open themselves up to it down to their most cherished secrets. Throughout its transnational travels with its latex mask that it always wears on its face, Herold encounters people as extraordinary as itself, yet from real life. During its “conversation sessions” with them, it interrogates the reasons and consequences of the escape of the modern individual, suffering from daily problems, from themselves and the harsh realities of life by way of “Popular Culture” and “Underground Culture.”
The characters Herold encounters through its travels are real people from real life, as well as real life “celebrities” and sometimes totally fictional characters like itself. During its conversations with them, it searches the answer to these questions: What kind of a “reality“ are they living in? What are the ramifications of this reality they have created on themselves and others? What kind of an image do they wish to reflect onto others; and how do others perceive them?
During the “sessions” it has with characters it encounters throughout the film, Herold demonstrates to the audience, that we can / do meet these characters in our daily lives and that as different and distant as they may seem, that they bear the same daily problems and concerns in life, and that they are not any different from us or rather that we are no different from them. Throughout its travels across the world, Herold looks at the world and the society we live in from an unusual perspective, by bringing together all the “abnormal“ characters scattered to various parts of the world, and questions the concept of “normal”. It shows us that the people we call “abnormal“ are not that abnormal after all and that those others who are described as “normal“ at first glance are in fact so “interesting“.
While the question of what is behind Herold’s “mask” as a major element of curiosity will provoke the audience, in essence, Herold will use this tool to incorporate the audience in the film, and to cause everyone in the film as well as the audience to review the escape points and masks in their own lives, even if involuntarily.
Herold, is really after discovering and making all the people it meets throughout the film -as well as the audience-, discover the most secret and deepest thoughts and desires about themselves!
